Technical Program Symposium

Process Optimization Through Innovation, Technology, Automation and Design

This symposium will focus on displaying applications of innovation, technology, automation, and design geared towards process optimization within the copper mining ecosystem. Both academic and industrial presentations are sought, and we are encouraging the inclusion of examples on sustainability, productivity, throughput, variability, and/or operating & maintenance costs. Organizers aim to cover all processes that add value to the copper industry (productive processes and enabling functions) in all phases of mine´s lifecycle (from pre-feasibility to shutdown).

Topics may include:

• Data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or blockchain applications
• Virtual and augmented reality applications
• Robotics and autonomous / semi-autonomous equipment
• Integrated operation control centers
• Digitization initiatives
• Cybersecurity
• Culture and process modifications needed as a result of the technology applications
• Other applications such as sensors, drones, and wearable technologies
• Lean mining or advanced process control and/or modeling
• Convergence of IT, OT, and industrial hardware
• Smart equipment and operational hardware
• Cloud computing
