The Chilean Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMCh) is the organiser of COPPER 2022 in Santiago de Chile, 13-17 November. This is the 11th edition of the largest Copper Technical Conference.

The Copper 2022 Conference is the result of the collaborative work of eight leading international professional societies such as the Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas de Chile (IIMCH); The Metallurgy and Materials Society of CIM (METSOC); Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) and The Minerals; Metals & Materials Society (TMS) of AIME; Gesellschaft der Metallurgen und Bergleute eV (GDMB); The Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan (MMIJ); Nonferrous Metals Society of China (NFSoc); The Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, all working together to present the highest quality symposia to delegates.

«At our Copper 2022 International Conference we will have engineers, scientists, manufacturers and users of copper from around the world, who will exchange ideas on economics, markets, scientific innovation and development. In addition, between conferences and technical talks, all areas of the copper value chain will be covered in Plenary Conferences and nine Symposia,» said Sergio Demetrio, President of the IIMCh.

He added that five Short Courses have been planned, to be held on Sunday 13 November and Technical Visits on 17 November on Copper, its processes, markets, innovations and technologies that make it possible to produce it. This is how this noble metal is at the heart of the fight against climate change and global warming.

Finally, Demetrio called on all professionals involved in the mining sector and related industries to register and be part of this important meeting, which brings together experts in the sector in Chile.

«For our Institute it is an honour to be in charge of developing COPPER 2022 in Chile, both for the prestige of mining in our country and its professionals, as well as for being the hosts of the main exponents of the sector at an international level. Therefore, I invite you to come together in November and be part of those who will highlight the importance of mining for the challenges that lie ahead and where copper will be the protagonist», concluded the President of the IIMCh, Sergio Demetrio.
